(Which, by the way, I believe is the only reason that blacks, women, and gays are allowed into the Republican party/punditry/wingnut welfare hierarchy in the first place.)

They know that they cannot win on the issues or on personal qualities if they stick to the facts. They are going to rely on the tried and true Rovian smears, as well as the classic “Southern Strategy” of overt race baiting. Anything to divert attention from the issues and the abysmal failures of the policies McCain supports.

Criminal corporations are the backbone of the Republican Party and Billy Bob May are the cartliage that holds it together.

First, it is not just in the South and the attack is not directed at the overt racists. This is directed at white working class voters who are “uncomfortable” voting for a black man. These people are not overtly racist, but have passively absorbed a lot of racist stereotypes and attitudes. There is also a lot of this kind of “systemic racism” in the professional classes (and I believe is behind much of the PUMA trend, such as it is).

I recall in 2004 there were pamphlets distributed to evangelicals stating that if elected, Kerry would outlaw reading the Bible. Yes, it sounds completely absurd but you’d be surprised how many people that sort of tactic resonates with. Granted, they’re not a demo that would have voted for Kerry in any event but it helped ensure that they got out and voted for Bush.

How old is Bobby May? I assume he is an adult, since he is a “campaign rep.” Do adults go by “Bobby”? Have you noticed how so many GOPers use baby names?

I know I have said this before, on several blogs, and have gotten no answer. But mark my words. The reason they do this is because they never grew up.

Think about it: If you had cancer, would you be operated on by a surgeon named Bobby? I sure wouldn’t. Would you fly a plane piloted by a Bobby? The list goes on and on — and it supports my point: Republican males are a bunch of whiney babies, who were harassed in elementary and high school, and never got over it. (Just look at Mitch McConnell and John Boner for an example of those who even have adult names, who act this way. If you look at them, you can tell. It is rather obvious.)
