We are at a dangerous point in this election when our media seems unable to grasp that the most basic rules that hold democracy together are under daily assault from a determined and increasingly violence-prone minority. Let us be clear about what McCain/Palin are doing:
John McCain has authorized Sarah Palin to use not just lies and smears but deliberately inflammatory rhetoric to incite hatred and fear of Barack Obama. Audience members are already calling for violence. It is only a matter of time before McCain/Palin's falsely linking Obama to terrorism and unAmerican sympathies will erupt in violence against Obama's people, the media or anyone opposing the McCain/Palin ticket.
Inciting others to violence is a crime, a dangerous felony, and it is time for our media to stop treating this incitement as just another gradation of "negative campaigning." Such head-in-the-sand dismissiveness is too often "balanced" by stories that "the other side is doing negative ads too" as though pointing out flaws in an opponent's position on health care was equivalent to insinuating your opponent is a menace to public safety.
A perfect example is this article on ABC
"At some level, negative rhetoric is part of the game. But is it truly dangerous?" asked Kimberly Gross, a professor of political communication at George Washington University. "Is someone going to kill Barack Obama because they went to a Palin rally? Probably not, and if they do it is more likely because they're crazy than because they heard someone tell them to do it at a Palin rally. It is dangerous in a bigger sense that it is bad for politics."
Ya think? How reassuring to know that if someone beats up a CNN camera crew, or assaults Obama supporters after attending a Palin rally, it was only because they were already predisposed to violence.
The Media Have been Had Again
The McCain campaign told us they wanted to change the subject from the economy, and they have succeeded. The Ayers story is now replacing the economy on all news/political shows. But no one is explaining even that correctly. Here is the essence that has been lost:
Obama has had completely non-violent associations with people who are interested in education, in housing, in community development. Lots of people have joined in the same effort because they too believe in those things, including Democrats, Republicans, Independents and yes, even people who once believed it was okay to throw bombs 40 years ago. None of these people, including Obama, associated to support violence or terrorism. End of story.
McCain/Palin's insinuation that Obama associates with terrorists because he sympathizes with terrorism or violence is a flat lie, a despicable smear; it's time for the media to call it what it is and to condemn the campaign for sinking into the gutter.
It is not an answer to say, "well McCain also associated with violent groups." Obama has done nothing wrong, so saying "McCain did it too," is the wrong response and only feeds the smear. If McCain has questionable associations that suggest he believed in/supported questionable activitives, then that is a separate story and should be investigated. But it should not be used to legitimize the smear that Obama's associations to promote education, housing and community development were wrong.
Get it straight media, before violence erupts. It's up to you to stop this.

Honestly, Scarecrow,
I sound like a broken record, but because hate radio has incited people to violence against crimaliens - their term - 24/7 for years, people are used to this. Radio is the media in many people’s minds.
Because hate stations such as WTKK of Boston have allowed their genius staff to attack Muslims daily, Sarah, Cindy and John are validating their positions.
They are feeding off of each other and it’s not over yet.
Some on teevee have begun to address this. Campbell Brown on CNN in her “Special Comment” called it race-baiting.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/.....33172.html
But this crap from McCain/Palin needs to stop before some nutjob with an AK-47 decides to be a “hero.”
Thank goodness you got me out of that thread!
Personally, I’m not thinking the McCain/Palin rallies are just KKK meetings. That’s how these rallies are coming across to me as I watch excerpts of them on my tv. Scary.
As my ole blog friend, Dave of the Jungle, said recently on A-blog, “I ask the Republican Party to disband immediately”. Hear hear! They are dangerous to our sovereign.
CTuttle, i left you a message downstairs
Whenever Howie Carr of WRKO Radio out of Boston goes after the homeless, there is an upswing of violence towards the homeless in Massachusetts and in Maine. Sick.
Bingo. Tell it like it is.
The rage and emotion of the attendees at their rallies is so intense, I wouldn’t be surprised if that, and the economic situation, make them think we’re in a civil war of sorts.
Bad, bad, dangerous situation for Obama.
I hesitate to bring it up again but the ABC news had this dude on at the Mc Cain rally in Wisconsin just screaming about how mad he was and what “hooligans” Pelosi, Obama and the rest are.
Charles Keating has gotten into the act of inciting hate against Obama.
I’m likening the audiences of the McCain/Palin rallies to the same intensity of a Brazilian soccer game where the energy is high and the stadium ends up collapsing at the weight of it all!
Saw it!
Keating was on Dennis Miller at the time.
Here’s the video of it. I posted it on my blog tonight:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuSYHnVpYbs
Watch Palin after this fascist asshole runs his mouth. She’s the pretty woman in the crowd who yells, “That black man raped me!”, just to incite violence. Spit.
It’s why I posted an Ox diary with that crazy YouTube today. They are angry, don’t care why and want to stay that way..
Dugg you Scarecrow. Thanks.
I surely hope obama has the balls to re-introduce “the fairness doctrine” and to BREAK UP consolidated media
NO MORE local papers or media owned by multi state corporations either
You can feel the mob mentality in those crowds…somebody lights a match..
There must be a way to sue the McCain Campaign for this…some kind of serious warning that they will be held responsible if something happens. They are ramping up the nerves of people with lies and rhetoric. It would be no different than standing on the sidelines and egging someone on to “go get” someone…they are complicit.
I’m really furious about this. What can be done?
Inciting violence is not just negative campaigning, it’s criminal behavior…!
Btw, imagine my surprise when I saw my diary in the top ten…!
man, there’s a sailor who tied his boat to the wrong peer
epud
gawwww Cindy Lou is a C**nt…Johnnie is correcto
“could I just say, the gentleman is right”.
I had a nightmare about this…
What?
Well, if this was liberals doing this, it would fall under the Military Commissions Act or the Patriot Act or some other Act/signing statement we don’t know about.
NEOCON LIE OF THE DAY: “The reason why the cop down in Florida is in trouble with the Feds is because he said “Hussein” when talking about Barack Obama”
TYPICAL LIBERAL RESPONSE TO THE NEOCON LIE OF THE DAY: “Ummmm, no. That’s no the reason why the cop down in Florida is in trouble with the Feds. He’s in trouble for wearing his on-duty police uniform and standing on a stage promoting a political party, which is a violation of the Hatch Act! Dumbasses. Don’t you know anything? Clean out your ears and step away from Fox News for 4 seconds!!! You might learn something!”
I was disappointed to hear Obama speaking to a crowd about McCain ‘erratic behavior.’ I wish he wouldn’t go there. Just stick to the issues and leave McCain to flail away to his cold heart’s content.
LOL Now, now, now, Raven….playing the Devil’s Advocate is my job, okay? You’re making me look bad and you’ve knocked my sarcasm off kilter at the moment. Now stop it!!!!!
yea he can discuss hatred and DEVISIVE tactics …that would be good
I’ve been taking heat because I don’t like the anti-Obama stuff that has been going on here. The book salon Sunday was ridiculous. If people don’t think there is any difference between these two candidates so be it but I’ll be damned if I’m not going to speak up.
It is going to get worse until the election because of the pressure of the economy…McCain is blaming Obama right and left, and they are eating it up…they are looking for someone to blame for losing the value of their 401K’s, and McCain is being completely despicable.
McCain is the most dishonorable candidate….EVER.
Update at HuffPo says that Secret Service is now investigating this matter. Personally, I view that as good news.
That was Mc Cain’s quote, should have noted that.
Which matter?
GOOD ON YA…………..some people just have no fukkkkkkkin idea what is at stake
he is a pussy coward, who has never had a FINANCIAL worry in his entire ill begotten life
George Bush got the “Worst Person In The World” award tonight on KO! Did I hear why? Nope! I was reading blog comments and obviously can’t do two things at once. *giving myself a V8 juice bonk to the head*
they have certainly made the secret service’s job a nightmare, as if it wasn’t hard enough before these sociopaths Began inciting assassination
can you imagine what the secret service will go through if an attempt is even marginally successful?
the ain’t gonna be happy with the people that incited it
Agreed. Can’t Obama personally sue Palin and McCane for slander? This cannot be legal…
Heck, I’m watching Wake-Clemson, Dodgers-Phils, scratching LilBit and pissing people off all at once!
I thought you were trying to be me where I go after the Obama-haters on here by posting links to McCain’s campaign to give $2,000 or a link to Mitch McConnell for everyone to give him a ‘thank you card’ for being the bestest guy in the whole wide world! LOL Nevermind.
man, it is gonna be impossible to pick any one reason why, I wonder how ko chooses, does he take all the depravity and just toss it in the air, whichever lands closest is the winning reason
My mistake, it was the co-chair of the mccain campaign, Frank keating, who was on Dennis Miller. Oops!
i love ya…they depress me.ill tell ya
They need to investigate McCain and Palin’s motives for allowing and inciting this situation.
I am hoping the new york yankees win this time
I LOVES me some don mattingly and joe torre
GO YANKEES!
It’s a false argument you produce, imo. If we cannot question and criticize.. we certainly cannot claim to be better now nor sincerely think we or he will be better later. And by the way, there are a lot of good people who consider themselves to be far left of Obama… and they don’t think they are perfect because of it.
If I vote left of Obama… it’s because I want him to remember the left when he looks at numbers later on… not take us for granted.
Probably not since the KKK is allowed to hold meetings in our country and they incite violence & hatred against blacks and whoever else they hate at the moment.
If *gasp* Barack Obama was assassinated, I think there would be a case then. Unfortunately, that’s how it is.
Where’s the Secret Service? They obviously have agents protecting Palin, don’t they take note of the loudmouths in the audience? Don’t they hold them for a little “interview” regarding threats against a candidate who they are also reponsible to protect. Or maybe the noise from the crowd are Palin shills…
I would prefer they arrest them for it.
at the very least warn them they are committing a crime and then actually go public with the charge
obviously that is not gonna happen, the secret service is as a-political as a government agency can get me thinks
and there is a time and a place for everything
Did everyone see that Obama bought 1/2 hour on CBS and NBC for a speech to be on 10/29? Yeah!
Sounds good to me, Perris. Email KO about this technique, because he might be racking his brain out too much! LOL
Sadlyes, I know what you mean. Nothing worse than getting the feeling it will be Democrats who keep Democrats out of control in November. Something is telling me, though, that the wave is real in support of Obama, so let’s hope most of the supporters aren’t reading FDL on some nights! *crossing fingers*
The riots that would ensue would cause the McCains and Palins to have to flee the country…no amount of domestic military operations would stop the people from friggin’ going balistic.
if you DONT vote for Obama you are taking a big chance…for all of us
I will vote and lobby for obama THIS election, but he BETTER turn his triangulating butt BACK to the people and AWAY from his corporate distributers, because we WILL lobby against him next election if he does not deliver and we DO make a differance
Their motive is clear, McCain would make any sacrifice to be president, human sacrifice, that is.
Alot of us have had nightmares about this. McCain is yelling fire in a theater.
um yah
There was an item about Chas. Keating, found over at Think Progress:
I have DishTV, and Obama has his own channel..right next to the local channels…it runs his plan for America 24/7.
unfortunately not, I think.. but like I said before, justice will come in the form of a 364 to 174 electoral landslide for Senator Obama.. heck, make that 365. We get elector of Omaha.
anyone know the score in the yankee playoff game?
Yes, I saw that on ABC. Since I wrote this early today — it was on Oxdown — McCain has released his lengthy smear ad on obama/ayers and he and Palin have continued the themes in interviews with Charlie Gibson and at compaign appearances. All the “leaks” the mcCain people put out yesterday that mcCain was upset about this stuff was all bunk. He’s embracing it and is now facing audiences he can’t control at his own rally. Something about reap what you sow comes to mind.
Yup. Cold, cold, ambitious heart.
LA 1 Phils 0 btm 2
Such as post FISA and post ardent endorsement of the bailout and continuous promise of more war in Afghanistan and Pakistan… For me anyway, maybe not you.
Makes a difference where you live. Cast a protest vote for any candidate you like if your state is not in contention. Neither candidate is spending one thin dime campaigning here in Illinois.
Exactly. One of the talking heads said the other night…if Obama is ahead by 5 points going into the election and he ends up losing it because of something ’strange’, then he’s expecting a huge reaction. He didn’t say what but it’s obvious he’s talking about riots across this country. But don’t you think George Bush wants that? I think so. America is a pressure cooker right now for sure. Palin isn’t helping it by pointing her boobs at each and every male in the audience while spouting anti-liberal/Obama lies either.
It’s posted at 13, it’s actually more of this moron than was shown on ABC
The Chas. Keating quote might be interpreted as “I’m going to stick to you like stink on shit.”
has everyone seen that mccain has “announced” that he is releasing an add that questions the ayers/obama add?uhyup
now obama BETTER take off the gloves, he has TONS of ammo, I do NOT want to see simple defence, I want to se block and parry, an ATTACK back at this maggot
so you would have felt different if his vote on the bailout had not been “ardent”?
GO YANKEES!
thanx for the scoreboard raven!
I think Obama is steadily increasing the intensity of his rhetoric. He has been portraying McCain as desperate and erratic. He is winning and he has the truth on his side. I think much of the electorate sees through McCains tactics. Not everyone is as dumb as people who take time off from work to go to a Palin rally.
I would have felt different if he hadn’t endorsed Barrow, flipped on his FISA promise… sincerely wanted to get out of MIC spending and needless usage… as well as demanded or stayed out of the way of those who did demand real economic reform… regulation etc. during the bailout.
There is this too…gun totin’ voter:
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/....._1008.html
So what are you going to do about it? Are you going to vote for McCain. Are you going to vote for Cynthia McKinney, Bob Barr?
And apparently McC has big money problems. Tough place to be in the final stretch.
The asian markets are really tanking, but, in better news the yankees lost to the red sox.
That was my take too…
hahahahahahaha
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxL7MKsGoPo
Exactly what Rachel just said. Good point. Really good.
Eureka, Please not Cynthia or Barr! Somebody needs to use google. The road runner would be better.
As Rush or Hannity will tell you, they only arrested the guy because he’s a “conservative.”
And, I would like to mention this earlier post by Dave Neiwert at FDL
The Obama Plotters: The Republican Double Standard In Law Enforcement Made Manifest
~~It seems there may be a reason federal law-enforcement officials are not interested in pursuing serious charges against the white-supremacist tweakers who were caught this week in Denver: The man making the decision is a Republican operative. And when it came to a threat against John McCain by a black man, he had a completely different approach.~~
read on….
Have not decided. My Senator Mark Lieberlovin’ Pryor is not an option for me. My Rep. Bushbot Boozeman isn’t either… As it looks now I am not in a potential swing for Obama state. If it remains clearly win here for Mccain. I will vote Nader or McKinney.
If I were in a swing state.. I would definitely vote O.
… is McCain’s strategy
Off to watch the game. Play nice
I think more than that. Some of the crap on talk radio should simply not be allowed on the air waves. It’s not political and it’s not entertaining. it hate speech and lie spewing and licenses should be revoked. Radio has really sunk very low and it’s hard to listen to these hateful liar punks.
The likes of Hanity, Ingraham, Severin and others are way over the line in my opinion.
Suggests that a lot of the usual Republican donors consider him a lost cause.
the yankees won’t be facing the redsox this season unless both break through to the world series
GO TORRE!
your faith is misplaced jpl9, once the redsox broke there curse they fractured the circle of life, this is why all these bad things are happening, katrina, psunami, the stock market…everything
the circle of life must be repaired if our democracy is to survive
Arrrggghhh, love ya man. I gotta get out of here so I have some chance to wind down and sleep.
While I am sickened by McCain’s tactics, I can’t help but wonder if there’s a free speech issue here. As long as Palin doesn’t directly advocate violence, I don’t think she can be punished.
I may not agree with what you say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.
I just hope karma does the job for us.
Tell the dawgs I said, “Howdy.”
Does everyone realize how important this year’s election is after 8 years of George Bush & Dick Cheney? Why the hell would ANYONE vote for a republican or not for Barack Obama if you’ve truly been paying attention?
MY ATHEIST ‘PRAYER’ FOR THE DAY:
Looks like it~hope it will happen…
not everyone is dumb but there are always teh dumb and dumber, for instance from raw story;
this is not an isolated chap and the mccain tactics give these people the “courage” to act on their bigotry
Karma didn’t do the job for MLK, JFK, RFK, Malcolm X.
Ding.
Hysterical! Thanks for posting it.
there is free speech but there is also responsibility.
these candidates need to shut those people up as quick as they speak and they are not doing it
I am for free speech also but there has to be responsible reaction to speech that incites violence
Cupcake Monster… finally, a credible supernatural entity worthy of my feigned support.
This talk of not voting for Obama because of this or that is, with all due respect, total bullshit. We are in a fight for the soul of this country and anyone flirting with not voting for Obama is dillusional. With fraudulent voting machines practically everywhere a giant turnout is essential and every vote counts.
Would never vote for Barr.. though I am begging some republicans to consider doing so. Would only vote Green to help push the D’s to the left. I live in AR, not IN, OH, FL, PA etc.
LOL Normally I say, “Banana Cupcake”, but I was feeling a little energized tonight.
WTF? Rachel is handing the republicans a way to steal the election. Will people who said they would vote for Obama in a poll NOT because he’s black?
Coming up after the ad.
ES- McKinney was my rep. There was a much earlier thread where JPL9 and I discussed her “attributes” from our on the ground experience. Thumbs down, like totally. Even though she was no longer my rep. I celebrated when she got soundly beaten in the Dem primary (where she had been elected Rep the second time around in a diff. district - redistricting) by Hank Johnson, who has turned out to be a really solid progressive. Hank voted against the bailout bill, btw. Sorry, but I have nothing nice to say about McKinney.
Thanks for posting that. Dang, I love Betty White.
It is not delusional. Not in every situation. Why is that so hard for some to comprehend?
Funny!
perris (98):
The issue comes from who’s reacting to the speech. The candidates should definitely shut up those who speak out in violent ways, but the secret service probably shouldn’t. I mean, a lot of people wear shirts that call Bush a domestic terrorist (agreed), and we wouldn’t want them getting “inciting violence” charges. I just think we’re walking a fine line if we label stupid political defamation speech as “hate speech”
the tee shirts that call bush a terrorist do not then go on to yell “kill him”
Reposting my Atheist prayer for those who are against Barack and is a Democrat/progressive/liberal at heart:
Are we clear now? LOL
Hannity just INKED A 100 MILLOION DOLLAR CONTRACT today or his RADIO show… i shit you not..SKINHEAD = very high paying job
ES- Although I’ve said that I would vote for Obama- two words- Supremem Court that was what I was thinking at the time. I still don’t know what I’ll do when I get into the voting booth. It may be close in GA. But, if I register a protest vote it will NOT be for McKinney.
Naaaah, I don’t believe that for one second. I say this because when I do phone banking in my area and speak to those old white ladies in my area, they are pumped up for Barack Obama! I’m serious. We have a 4% black population here in Maine and Barack is hugely popular throughout the whole state.
VG, It’s not about being FOR McKinney or expecting she would win… it’s about telling the D party in the loudest ballot manner possible.. Hey! you better look to the left.
All my money and time goes towards a progressive Dem faction… but I have to have a progressive candidate to you know, vote for. or at least my throw away vote for the Clintons Obama would have to be helpful before i throw them away. In AR this year… the bigots will win for McPalin. So my super left vote will carry the most weight, imo.
I keep thinking about how FDR got to a point where he considered a New Deal… it was because of a huge wave of ultra left wing voters in 1932 as much as anything, imo. That’s what I want President Obama to do.
your very welcome
Whew! on Rachel’s guest.
$20,000,000/year for 5 years? Are they insane????? Oh wait. Republics on Fixed News believe they are real journalists and to prove it, they give out $100,000,000 contracts and Medal of Freedom awards. Spit.
I would like to know where that money comes from, fox makes money but not that much money
Ooops. Here’s the link:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.c.....6139650878
JUST FOR THE RADIO SHOW….I SHITTTETH YOU NOT!!!!
I think part of the issue is that by not denouncing or even acknowledging the threats of violence, the McCain camp appears to be giving them their tacit approval.
In that case, I would write in The Road Runner for symbolic reasons. McKinney won here, one time, because of a very anti-semetic campaign.
bed, g’night all
ALL THE NAZI SKIN HEAD PROPAGANDISTS MAKE MULTI MILLION DOLLAR SALARIES
Probably stolen from Iraq. If I’m not mistaken, Fixed News & Ass Limbo were prominent tv/radio shows over there for our soldiers to
be brainwashedwatch.nitey nite
Rushbo hillbilly heroin addic makes 40,000,000.00 per YEAR
ES- okay, what I understand you to be saying is that you would be making a “tactical” vote, a protest vote, and that’s okay by me. Done the same myself. I was just weighing in my experience wrt to McKinney, to dispel any illusions some might have about her.
I hope Democrats or anyone who is a guest on Sean’s radio show or on Fixed News and who has a brain in their head….MENTIONS THAT SEAN IS GETTING $100,000,000 while Sean is trying to act like “he’s one of us”! Time to hold his feet to the fire!
I totally understand your theory, however, in this election, we are trying to free ourselves from a pseudo coup of the country. Normalcy is out the window. We are facing the cementation of a fascist government. Yes, Obama has voted on FISA and the “bailout”…but he can change things when in office…he can’t go against the grain totally right now, or he’ll never get elected, and we will most likely end up with President Sarah Palin ultimately.
The voting irregularities are already in the works. Go watch Democracy Now today in the interview with Greg Palast.
Greg Palast and RFK, Jr., have an article about voter fraud that is planned for this election coming out in Rolling Stone next week.
Any vote for anyone other than Obama will be a vote for McCain. They are counting on that.
In order to overcome the “fix”…Obama must win with 53%. The machines are not working right…AG of Ohio is interviewed and explains it also on Democracy Now today.
We are not living in normal times. We are in a huge crisis…politically and economically.
Please be careful, but I respect your choice…it is your choice.
Good night, Perris. No nightmares!
that is JUST for the RADIO DEAL… he prolly makes double that
haha- uh, I she won twice, in two different districts, irrc. And then was soundly defeated in both. Correct me if I am wrong
You are so lucky to have Hank as your rep. Tom Price is mine. My ex worked for IBM for years with the cadillac type of health insurance for our family. The only time that I was called questioning a doctor’s orders was for Tom Price.
I know. He’s another one who constantly states he’s ‘one of us’ on his freaking program. Their listeners are too stupid to see the forest through the trees. A Neal Bortz moonbat today was talking about AIG’s extravagant meeting they have planned and she said, “Well, I’m sure they had this planned a year or so ago, because I know when I want to throw a birthday party for my elderly mother at a local place, I have to do it months in advance, so I’m not going to hold AIG responsible for having this expensive party. Besides, they may have put a deposit on the place and might not be able to get it back”.
I kid you not.
Stupid.
Dumbasses.
*breaking pencil*
These morons vote against their own best interest and this woman is comparing a night out at Apple B’s to a multi-million dollar party!
*smacking forehead*
The lines were redrawn but she tried to run for her old seat after Majette left.
extremely well said
and from what ive read…the bailout is not being taken kindly by Wall Street, cause of linitations on CEO pay…mebbe he didnt do so badly after all
I know. It’s sick and COMPLETELY UNDESERVED.
On that note, I’m going to bed. Nite nite everyone!
McCain has to be uncomfortable with this rowdy crowd business. If he should win by some Rovian power grab, he would be in the crosshairs of the PalinLooneys who are already praying for McCain to die…and hey, Jesus said it’s okay. Nice friends you run with Johnny JetBoy.
breadth taking…sometimes i feel there is NO HOPE …sigh
sleep tite
I think the CEO’s of these effing companies should eat hot dogs for a week as their punishment. LOL
Okay, nite nite.
i thhought about that too….these people are very crazy,he is playing with fire
Thank you for this eloquent comment.
I have never understood a protest vote. It’s not as if any party sits down after and says “oh, no, Joe Smith in Omaha didn’t vote for us.” If they won they don’t care and if they lost they don’t care ’cause it’s too late. I have never heard the write-ins discussed in any election. Nobody seems to care.
JPL9- actually Hank is not my rep. I moved about 2 miles away (after McKinney got defeated the first time) and John Lewis is my rep. GA-05. But, bec. of the McKinney stuff, I have been following Hank Johnson since his primary run at McKinney. I was actually watching the returns in CT at Lamont HQ when Hank took McKinney to the cleaners in the primary, and I was very vocal. haha… some people looked at me quite strangely. And, my sympathies to you for your rep.
That’s not a vote, that’s a cop out. Just my opinion.
All good advice for those in non confederate swing states.
okay, thanks- I happened to live in the part that then redistricted-ed into another one- so that’s why I was confused.
Maybe.. if you assume I ever copped in. I voted for Kucinich in the primary. Edwards was as far to the right as I would consider.
Is Sarah Palin on speed?
and stooooopit pills
Maybe you would be more comfortable living in Massachusetts..
rut roh…Alaaska report not looking good for Mooselini
Rachel says that McCane/Palin are dismissing the results of the Troopergate investigation tonight ahead of tomorrow’s release. Gotta see that!
Mooselini!!!
John McCain will go down in history as…WORST NAPOLEAN IMPERSONATOR evah
JayBur- okay, this is a site where people are free to discuss their political thoughts. Just let it roll. Don’t go after ES bec. he doesn’t live in MA
i guess she will be the NEXT MULTI MILLION dollar radio Nazi propagandist…….oy
ROTF
Funny, quick vid on front page of dailykos!
Credit sadlyyes!
Aside from KO and Rachel Maddow don’t expect the corporate media to do the right thing. They still are hoping Palin/McCain pulls it off and the fat cat celebrity “journalists” and pundits can stay on the gravey train. Over the last 8 years the media has proven themselves corrupt and complicit. Only until some tragedy occurs will there be the self-flagellation and then the ultimate denial of responsibility.
That would be to easy. *g* Though we do have a measure on the ballot here which bans all non married couples from adopting children; including grandparents etc. All caught up in a wide sweeping anti gay initiative. I expect it will pass in AR. None of my in state Dems are speaking up against it. I can’t support this party under these circumstances. But I do support true progressives in any way possible wherever they may be.
What surprises me about McKinney is her ability to fool folks. I follow Hank Johnson for the same reasons that you do. I wrote to Price, Chambliss and Price about the bailout and still have not heard back from Price. He knows that it’s a given that he’ll be reeclected so why bother responding.
they wouldnt skip a beat imo
interesting guy on Rachel
Unless the tragedy occured to celebrity shills in the service of the corporate media.
What would you do if you lived in Ohio or Virginia? If Hillary had won the primary, personally I would have had problems voting for her. I did not agree with her foreign policy decisions but I live in GA. If I lived in a state that was close, I would be working to get out the vote for her.
ditto re: McKinney. She spews a line, and the knee jerk liberals (sorry no offense meant to anyone here, speaking re: prior experience at other sites) just swallow it hook line and sinker. I think one has to have BEEN HERE, on the ground, to understand ABC (All a-Bout Cynthia).
oh like Russert,i forgot…worst tradgedy evah
JPL9- I do wonder how close it will be in GA- I was actually thinking that Obama might have a chance in GA.
The Rs who manage to hang on this time (especially in the Senate) must be hearing hoofbeats for the next election.
Obama still has a ground game here. Not sure that he will win but it would be great if Martin did.
I made a few phone calls for Obama and am very impressed with their script. I’m going in Saturday to make a few more calls but then it will be only for his supporters.
Twain- it will be interesting to see what happens in GA re: the matchup between Chambliss and Martin.
This is from an email got on 10/6 from the Martin campaign. “Last week, we told you about a new Mellman Group poll that had us within 3 points of Saxby Chambliss - and then a new SurveyUSA poll that had us down by only 2. And now, this morning, a new Research 2000 poll shows that we are trailing Chambliss by only 1 point, 45% to 44%!”
Martin has run a totally uninspiring campaign. I was ready to work for him full out from the get-go, but had second thoughts for many reasons. Bad internet presence, no leadership, keeps asking for $$ to run ads, and that’s about it. As Raven once told me, yeah, typical GA Dem, and I think he was spot on. So, pretty surprising to me that he seems to be doing so well, at least if those polls are to be believed.
oops! see my comment 176- yes, it would be great if Martin won. But..
Thank you for this important post. The inciting violence issue needs to be addressed. I was frankly quite surprised that RFK, Jr.’s post on Huffington addressed Palin’s AK Independence Party Ties but did not address the possibility that McCain/Palin are inciting violence against Obama. If anyone can speak to this, it’s him.
I think we’ve learned enough about Palin. Quite simply, she is a monster. She used to be an isolated AK monster, but McCain has unleashed her on the mainland. The cruel irony of it is that she now overshadows him, and win or lose the election, he has lost by every other measure.
God forbid their incitement of these hateful, intolerant people lead to violence or threats of violence against Obama. So much for good Christians. As Bill Maher would say, these lunatics are Old Testament people…angry, dangerous, and destructive.
They have much to answer for.
Same as you.. without a doubt. Republicans must be defeated and Dems must be pushed to the left.
Thanks for bringing the discussion back to the topic. Alas, Obama has already been threatened by white supremacists (see my link at http://oxdown.firedoglake.com/.....mment-3583) and the rhetoric of Palin is enflaming this part of the population.
I agree, although I think it is a mistake to perceive the political spectrum as a level playing field. Picture the Democratic Party as a large boulder wedged in the bottom of a narrow ravine. Both sides are steep, although the right slope slightly less so. Moving that boulder up the left bank poses a great challenge. Lose your grip (think 9/11) and it rolls back down and partway up the other side.
edit- emboldening as well as inflaming. wish edit were back.
Agreed, but I have been standing over in a clearing out of the way of falling boulders all my life… except when I come to the aid of Clinton and Reagan supporters. It’s time to step back into the light and invite others to join in….) At least from where I am casting a vote this November. My O vote wouldn’t help O this year… but my Nader or McKinney vote might help him when he looks left as president.
They better do their job, because if they don’t, and Obama is elected, they won’t have it. Petraeus knows that, which is why he has come around. Obama’s people have good memories, and they will remember those who tried to fuck them.
I had reached the conclusion during the late ’90s that I could never in good conscience vote for a major party candidate. The Cheney/Bush coup pushed me back into the lesser of evils voting bloc. Since my state is safely behind Obama, I am considering casting a vote for Nader, who’s weltanschauung is more in line with my own.
I’ve always liked Nader far more than I disagreed with him. Only considered Cynthia because she kicked ass on DHS security nuts in DC and because AR Greens are doing great work in a largely thankless and downright hostile environment.
You can go to Keith’s portion of the MSNBC blog and play it.
Irony 101
The repeal of Posse Comitatus and the re-tasking of those thousands of US troops for riot duty in the US might just be necessary to help President Obama maintain order if the wingnuts totally lose it…
